Interview Status - Ross University

My blog has been silent for the past month for two reasons. After the rush to complete all my applications, it's hard to update with anything less than information regarding those applications. It's also that time of the semester where every other class has either an exam or a paper due within the next week or two.

In other words, I'm busy and I'm waiting.

Flash forward to today.

I'm still busy, but I'm waiting no longer.

I just got the good news that I've been waiting for. I have an interview this Friday for Ross University School of Medicine. Here is my timeline leading to this point:
  1. September 31, 2008 - Began working on Ross' online application (which is different and separate from the AMCAS application and takes a little bit more time to fill out).
  2. October 2, 2008 - Online application completed and submitted.
  3. October 3, 2008 - Made a road trip to my two former schools and ordered transcripts for Ross personally from their admissions offices.
  4. October 4, 2008 - Both my academic and professional letters of recommendation are sent.
  5. October 21, 2008 - Ross finally received all of my documentation and changed my online application status to "Interview Status."
  6. November 3, 2008 - Received word that I've been invited to interview.
  7. November 7, 2008 - Interview.

To be fair, I messed up and I was a little confused. I was confused because I've been spending some time on The Student Doctor Network and checking out other students and their own timelines for Ross specifically. According to one other student, it only took 1 week after submitting their application and getting the good news. I've literally been checking my email and online application multiple times a day for the past 13 days. I'm been doing all of my correspondence with Ross throughout email. I learn today that they've been trying to contact me (unsuccessfully) by phone for a few days now. It's not a very good start, but I think I'll be forgiven when I call them again tomorrow.

Anyway, I'll see how it goes. I've got a 7 page paper due on Wednesday, but I've also got to go buy a new suit for the interview. I guess the paper will have to wait.

I've always said that I feel like I do good in interviews (if I actually 'do good' is another story), but I've always felt comfortable and confident going into interviews. Partly because I've had a few interviews for jobs already. I've had good ones and bad ones. I've learned from both. I've always said that if I ever got an interview for medical school, I'd get accepted. It's time to put that to the test.

P.S. I've gone back and re-read one of the best books for interviews that I've read long ago. (I also bought a copy of it for a birthday present for one of my friends.)

Get it. It's great. It's cheap and you won't regret it.

Congratulations on getting an interview! I also applied for the Jan class but I don't know how to check the status of my application. Would you fill me in on how to do that? I would appreciate it SO much!
Thank you and good luck!

Hi Jennifer,

To check your application status, all you need to do is log back on to your Ross application through their "Embark Apply Online" service.

Follow the this link: HERE.

Scroll down to the bottom and go to "Track Your Status."

Good luck.

For the interview date did you receive a call or did you get something in the mail? Thanks.

When I learned I had secured an interview, it was by phone... which was weird since all of our communication before that had been through email.
