While I'm still in the process of crossing my fingers and hoping for the best, it's never too early to prepare for the next step. Everything up until now has been about preparation and the interview is no different. I'm using two different methods to prepare. First, I have to point out The Student Doctor Network one more time. It's a great resource with tons of first hand information about the application process. Next, I'll be going through some of my old books in the next couple weeks.
There was a time when I was buying books like mad from Amazon.com, finishing them withing a week or two, and moving on to the next. Some were better than others. In the next few weeks, I'm going to be posting about the one's I've been re-reading. The first is "The Complete Medical School Preparation & Admissions Guide."
This was one of the first books that I bought when I first learned that I was accepted into my current college almost 3 1/2 years ago. This is one of those books that best helps you when you first seriously think about medicine as a profession. It starts by asking you some questions, really forcing you to dig deep, and make sure that medicine is for you.
I answered all of the questions when I first got the book. It's interesting to go back to it now, to those same questions, and answer them again. During the interview, I'm sure questions about your initial motivations will come up. I think it helps to ask and answer them of yourself one more time.

The network is great!
I might have to pick up that book also! Im a pre med biology student too and boy oh boy i love it thus far but it is difficult already!
:-)
That you for the wealth of information I provided. I also was looking into applying to Ross University for fall of 09.
I did poorly on the MCAT. I tanked the physics section. I realized I can't submit my app with the score I have. I'm going to retake the MCAT and use the techniques you stated in the blog . I realize I prepared poorly for it but now I know my weakness.
I guess being a non-traditional(27) student adds additional pressure to get in off the bat. I may not get in 09 but I do have faith that will get in. I'm just staying positive.
I do appreciate this blog. Thanks again.
Hi Jonathon,
I find your blog very inspiring and helpful in my endeavors of applying to medical schools. I'm in a similar situation with a low gpa. I have a couple questions regarding the application process for sgu and ross. My e-mail address is hhashwin@gmail.com. Could you please get back to me. Thanks again and good luck!!
